welcome to lawrence cassidy's website.

My work involves creating documentary and photo-based installations, sculptures, and exhibitions that aim to challenge various aspects of the visual representation of urban working-class cultures and communities in a historical context, using images from personal and public archives and oral history recordings.

The gallery site specific installations aim to recapture the spirit of lost communities in the city, via the creation of counter-memorials to otherwise excluded histories.

The work is conceptually based and the objects used refer to the content of the work, such as history, mass-production, heritage, consumerism, work, leisure, etc.

This website contains details of some of my projects and exhibitions since 1991.
